Eden Park is one of New Zealand's premier sporting complexes which hosts a number of prominent local, national and international sporting events. It is the largest sporting venue in New Zealand.

As the main venue for the 2011 Rugby World Cup, Eden Park has been expanded to accommodate 50,000 people with temporary seating for a further 10,000 for RWC 2011. This included a new South Stand as well as renovations to the existing East and West Stands.

Our Brief

  • Room acoustic & sound insulation design of facilities within the new South Stand
  • Sound system (voice message alarm and evacuation) and sound level monitoring system design
  • Mechanical service system design
  • Stadia envelope design to provide a vibrant atmosphere within the stadium while minimising sound transfer to the properties around the stadium

Project Scope

The redevelopment of the RWC South Stand, includes a new grandstand, TV and radio broadcast and media studios, corporate suites, coaches and player facilities (changing rooms, lounges, boxes, etc), a range of function rooms (variable room arrangement) and associated services, production and satellite kitchens, concessions and administration offices (open plan, meeting rooms, private offices and board rooms).

A sophisticated sound system including a voice message alarm and evacuation system has been installed in the new South and East Stands, the first such system in New Zealand.
